KOTA Member Spotlight: Mary Kolb

Congratulations to our newest member in the spotlight Mary S Kolb

I had always planned on being a physical therapist since about the 8th grade. But when that didn't materialize I learn about occupational therapy and proceeded to Eastern Kentucky University. There could be no better field for myself and for anyone who pursues it. Being one of the very few occupational therapist in the late 70s were many job opportunities. I spent a great deal of time with Jefferson County Public Schools Contracting with preschools early childhood programs from Frankfurt to Fort Knox. To the Blue River. Studied sensory integration and was part of the standardization of the SIPT . I have Bonnie Fellows OYTT/L to thank for all the encouragement and patience.

I spent the last 25 years with adults with developmental disabilities in adults and I find we need to accommodate their preferences and personalities and help them become the best people they can be as in all areas of difference. Occupational therapy does step on a lot of toes but I think it makes people better and absolutely every area of their lives. I have a wonderful husband of 35 years and three grown daughters. My passion is horseback riding specifically racing long distances. I am active with my church and several ministries for low income and homeless folks. It has been fun to be a part of the OT Colleagues in KY!
