Topic: Implementing A Sensory Processing Approach in Practice with Children, Families, and Schools
Objectives
· Articulate the conceptual basis for a sensory processing approach to assessment and intervention
· Recognize the appropriate uses for the Sensory Profile measures.
· Become aware of the uses of the new Sensory Profile School Companion and the Sensory Profile Supplement
· Learn about the unique perspectives of teachers in school, and how to broker this knowledge with information from the parents at home
· Articulate program planning and intervention which considers both the person's abilities and the environmental factors that support or create barriers to performance.
· Contribute to a person's successful participation in natural settings.
· Articulate the complementary features of a sensory processing approach with cognitive and behavioral approaches.
· Collaborate successfully with families and colleagues in other professions, sharing and reframing therapeutic knowledge into "user friendly" terms.
